Korea in World Expos... n°2 - Paris 1900 - following

Here is the following of the proposed reconstitution of the pavilions of Korea in Expos.

After detailing the Korean pavilion at the 1900 World Exposition in Paris and modeling steps, the textures are then applied to both surfaces, each polygon on the 3D model.

Because we can't refer to color photos, it is therefore the chromos published on the occasion of the Expo 1900 as the basis for this coloring.

Korea in World Expos... n°2 - Paris 1900

It's not the first time I will talk about the World Expo 1900 in Paris, if you remember this first article : http://expo2012-yeosu-korea.blogspot.fr/search/label/Expo%201900

Emperor of Korea, in 1900

In first, more precisions about Expo 1900 and the pavilion of Korea :

This event proposes to make the balance of the past century.
At the heart of Paris, this expo has welcomed nearly 51 million visitors on 110 hectares meets hundreds of pavilions and palaces, the Invalides to the Champ de Mars, to the banks of the Seine and the Trocadero slopes.
Electricity was there queen and had his palace.
Major accomplishments, such as the Pont Alexandre III, the Grand Palais and Petit Palais still exist today.

This is the first time that Korea, empire of 13 million inhabitants, presents its own pavilion.
Located along the Avenue de Suffren, on side of Champ-de-Mars, its execution was entrusted to a French architect, Mr. Ferret.

The products of agriculture are exposed, and those of domestic industries, such as silks, fabrics embroidered with gold and silver, ceramics, wine and perfume, lacquers, and fruit teas are also represented.

Now, I will show the Korean pavilion of Expo 1900 in the 3D project, and how it was rebuilt for the film.
Here's the first steps of the 3D modeling :

The furniture inside the house are just to make the filling, if the inside is just visible in the final 3D animation. There is not much documentation and photos on these elements.

I love these pictures show modeling without the textures. They allow to understand the forms of architecture pavilion.

Korea at Paris 1900 World Expo

Let's talk a little history, World Expo history, but especially the history of Korea's participations in the World Expos.
French newspaper, color engraving, pavilion of Korea.

The first participation was in Chicago in 1893, but Korea doesn't have a real pavilion yet. The country products exhibited was gathered in a small booth that was inside the main palace of the Expo.

It wasn't until the second participation of Korea to a World Expo to see a real pavilion, which represents the country.

First project for Expo 1900, Delors de Gléon.

The first pavilion was the one of 1900 World Expo in Paris.
That we will find below is not the one expected. Indeed, it's french specialist of reconstruction , Mr. Delors de Gléon, who had a huge success at the Exhibition of 1889 with its reconstruction of the Street of Cairo. He had imagined a huge and magnificent palace to best represent Korea.

Rapport général Administratif et Technique - Alfred Picard - 1903

Alas, Mr. Delors de Gléon died prior to the completion of this incredible palace, whose construction would be halted. And what had been achieved was destroyed.
It was finally decided, very late, it really had to build a pavilion, but this time would be much smaller and modest.

This pavilion, inspired by a former royal palace in Seoul, was located at the end of the Champ de Mars, behind the galleries on the side of the gallery of machines of the 1900 Expo.
We will have the opportunity to speak in an article a little longer.

His majesty Ry Hyeng.
